With her eastern-mysticism-infused music, Iranian-born Canadian musician Azam Ali is regarded as one of the most original artists of today.

At the start of a ten-plus year career encompassing countless albums, Azam Ali met Greg Ellis, a jazz-loving percussionist, with whom she founded the band Vas. She later continued his work with world music band Niyaz alongside Grammy nominee Carmen Rizzo and her partner Loga Ramin Torkian. Azam Ali is also active as a solo artist, having released her latest album “From Night to the Edge of Day,” a unique synthesis of electro-ethnic music, in 2011.
