Born in Lebanon and currently residing in France, İbrahim Maalouf has a unique talent with the quarter tone trumpet. Born into a family of artists and intellectuals he has been composing since his young age. During his education in Paris, he was awarded with 15 different prizes in major trumpet competitions, going to teach the trumpet in Paris and at Kansas State University. His debut album, produced by his own label Mis’ter Productions, was released in 2007. Maalouf has also contributed to the albums of Vanessa Paradis, Vincent Delerm among others, while his own compositions feature heavy emphasis on classical and Eastern styles.
